3 ways How to start Windows 10 in Safe mode

Safe mode starts Windows in a very basic and clean state with using very minimal and limited resources and drivers. The third-party drivers and resources are not used and loaded in safe mode. With this you can get to know if the fault is in Windows itself or any third party software or driver is causing the issue.

Safe mode provides an environment where you can easily remove the faulty drivers and Softwares that are causing the issue.

There are mainly three options through which you can go into safe mode. These options are:

1) From settings.

2) By using the sign-in screen.

3) From black or a blank screen.

How to start Windows 10 in Safe mode from Settings:

To boot your Windows 10 into Safe mode follow the below-given steps:

1) First of all go to the Settings of your laptop or pc. You can do this by pressing the windows button + I simultaneously or just press the windows button and click on the Settings icon on the bottom left corner.

2) Then click on Update & Security.


3) After that click on the Recovery option on the left side.

4) Then under Advanced startup click on Restart now.

5) Once you click on Restart now, your pc will restart and then you need to click on Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup settings

6) Then hit the Restart now button.

7) Once your pc/laptop gets restarted you will see a number of options.

Select the 4th option (Enable safe mode) to boot your pc into safe mode.

Select the 5 or press f5 to boot into safe mode with networking.

How to boot Windows 10 in Safe Mode from the sign-in screen:

Follow the below-given steps to boot into safe mode from the sign-in screen:

1) Once you on the sign-in screen, just press and hold the shift key in accordance with the power button. 

2) Then click on Restart.

3) Once you click on Restart now, your pc will restart, and then you need to click on Troubleshoot Advanced options > Startup settings.

4) Then hit the Restart now button.

5) Once the pc restarts you will see a lot of options.

Select the 4 or press f4 (Enable safe mode) to boot your pc into safe mode.

Select the 5 or press f5 to boot into safe mode with networking.

How to boot Windows 10 in safe mode from a black or blank screen:

To enter safe mode from a blank or black screen you need to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (winRE).

How to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (winRE):

1) You just need to turn your pc on and off continuously multiple times before it gets fully restarted.

2) Hold down the power button for 10 sec to turn off your pc.

3) Then again press the power button for 10 sec to turn on your pc.

4) Once you see the starting logo of your laptop just press the power button for 10 sec to turn off your pc again before it gets fully booted.


5) Now again press the power button and turn it on.

6) Press the power button to turn it off again before it gets fully booted.

7) Again hold the power button to turn it on.

8) This time just allow the pc to restart fully.

9) After restarting you will be in winRE.

Now follow the below-given steps to boot into safe mode:

1) Click on Troubleshoot Advanced options > Startup settings.

2) Then hit the Restart now button.

3) Once the pc restarts you will see a lot of options.

Select the 4 or press f4 (Enable safe mode) to boot your pc into safe mode.

Select the 5 or press f5 to boot into safe mode with networking.

How to start Windows 10 in safe mode with networking:

1) Click on Troubleshoot Advanced options > Startup settings.

2) After that hit the Restart now button.

3) Once the laptop restarts you will see a number of options.


Select the 5 or press f5 to boot into safe mode with networking.

How to get out of Safe mode Windows 10:

To get out of Safe mode just restart your laptop/pc.

or

1) Press windows button + R.

2) In the pop-up window type msconfig and click ok.

3) under the boot tab you will see the boot option.

4) Just uncheck the Safe boot option.
